WOR GROUP – YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

WOR offers teens a place away from the hustle and bustle of school to strengthen their self-awareness and confidence. Our youth WORRIORs invest 12-weeks developing their core skills as communicators and leaders to ensure they are heard, understood, and can get their point across. At the conclusion of the program, teens are certified as WOR Youth Leaders.

  • Self Awareness

  • Communication Strategies

  • Leadership and Team

  • Presentation and Public Speaking

SELF-AWARENESS & PRODUCTIVITY

Teens with high emotional and social intelligence can manage their own impulses.  In this session teens learn to define and practice self-management, self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, and empathy, and how their behaviors can affect others.  To maximize productivity, teens also learn basic project management techniques to set SMART goals and maximize their productivity.

COMMUNICATION

For the better part of every day, we are communicating with others. Teens learn how to overcome barriers to communication, develop verbal and non-verbal communication skills, ask good questions, listen effectively, network with others, build rapport, and establish or strengthen trusting relationships.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Different leadership styles can be effective, but the same techniques do not work in every situation or fit every personality style. In this session teens learn how to lead based on the situation and their personality style, establish vision and goals, solve problems creatively, develop and work with teams, and manage conflict effectively.

PRESENTATIONS & PUBLIC SPEAKING

It can be frightening when called upon to share ideas or make a presentation.  In this session teens practice techniques to speak in front of an audience, overcome nervousness, use gestures and non-verbal skills, engage an audience, and share stories, quotes, and humor to enhance their message.  They also learn how to prepare an outline, use visual flip charts and white boards, and create PowerPoints.
